Design and construction of a sports complex in Graveson (France)
SMC2 built the Graveson sports complex, a 22927 ft² structure designed to accommodate football, basketball, handball and badminton in its gymnasium, as well as dance and martial arts in its specialised hall and dojo. Outside, a covered climbing wall offers sports enthusiasts a climbing surface of 839,58 ft².
The complex was built using a mixed glulam timber and hot-dip galvanised steel framework. The roof and facades are made from a textile membrane, allowing the gymnasium to benefit from plenty of natural light during the day. The translucency of the stretched fabric, its suppleness and its white colour provide sportspeople with a comfortable environment in terms of light, sound (sound does not reverberate) and heat (the white colour reflects the sun’s rays). The gymnasium houses a modular steel grandstand with 176 seats.
