Construction of a covered beach volleyball court

SMC2 delivered a 22.6 x 28.5 m sports canopy designed to cover a beach volleyball court. The foundations are made of concrete. The structure is built with engineered timber framing, while the roofing is a tensile membrane. All four façades are also made of textile membrane, with retractable lower sections.

The use of a textile membrane for both roofing and façades ensures consistent, natural daylight across the beach volleyball court throughout the day. In addition to enhancing player comfort, it helps reduce the need for artificial lighting during daytime use.

With the court now covered, it can be used year-round regardless of weather conditions. The addition of LED lighting also allows for evening use, optimizing the overall utilization of the sports facility.
