A 9,770 sq ft covered sports hall to boost physical activity in Quettreville-sur-Sienne in France.

The town of Quettreville-sur-Sienne is adding a new 9,770 sq ft covered sports hall, designed as an open-air, roofed multi-sport facility capable of accommodating futsal, basketball, tennis, and handball. Measuring 74.5 ft x 131 ft, the hall features a combined handball/basketball goal system, maximizing space efficiency and operational flexibility. This modular design supports a wide range of programming tailored to the needs of local schools and community sports clubs.

The roof consists of a high-performance tensile fabric membrane supported by a hybrid structure combining glued laminated timber and galvanized steel, delivering structural strength, durability, and architectural quality.

At the upper level, a solid screen-printed fabric façade reinforces the building’s visual identity while ensuring protection and long-term performance. At the lower portion of one corner, retractable fabric wall panels enhance the system, providing optimized natural ventilation—particularly beneficial during the summer months.

Sustainability is reflected in the use of helical steel pile foundations, powder-coated galvanized steel gutters, and a rainwater harvesting system, demonstrating a controlled and environmentally responsible design approach.

For user comfort, the facility is equipped with 300-lux LED lighting and an EPDM sports flooring system that ensures safety and high-quality play.

Beyond its technical features, this multi-sport hall provides a concrete response to the shortage of covered sports facilities in the area. It enables year-round physical activity regardless of weather conditions and supports the vitality of local schools and community organizations.

With this new development, Quettreville-sur-Sienne reaffirms its commitment to modern, sustainable sports infrastructure designed to meet today’s needs.
